Tour Guidelines for Potential Authors
Rama tours give readers the chance to immerse themselves in the foundation of history, change over time, using the iPhone’s mapping and imaging capacities to their fullest. A tour’s text provides engaging narrative and context, while its images underline physical transformations and intangible evolutions (or, sometimes, startling consistencies). Our standards are constantly evolving, but for some of our benchmarks, see below.
Image standards
First and foremost, Rama images have a historical quality, showing a view that is not possible to reproduce by visiting the place they were taken today. Common images include:
Photographs (architecture, portraits, still-life, etc.)
Paintings
Drawings
Maps
Aerial views
Daguerreotypes
We rarely accept contemporary images, but when appropriate will publish an image that reveals a view the average tour-goer cannot access, such as behind closed doors or of a major event.
Editing process and narrative standards
Tour content must be several things at once, especially: historically accurate, entertaining to read, and revealing of a location’s past. We work with authors and organizations to fulfill these criteria and keep tours relevant and their research up-to-date.
