Can I download Rama on my iPad or iPod Touch?
The answer is “yes,” with an important “but” appended to it.
While Rama can be downloaded to non-iPhone Apple devices, it still requires an internet connection to work. That means that, with an iPod Touch, you would be able to navigate and see the tour of the Brooklyn Bridge while connected to your wifi network at home, but not while you’re actually walking the bridge, which does diminish the intended experience somewhat. However, some tours are able to get past this limitation. Union Square in New York City, for example, provides free wifi, meaning that an iPod Touch or iPad would be able to provide an on-the-ground run-through of our free Union Square tour.
Don’t lose hope, though! We’re working hard to make improvements to Rama that will allow tours to be taken without an internet connection, so that the fun won’t be limited to just the iPhone users.
Is Rama available for Android?
Net yet, but it is coming in early 2012. Subscribe to our Twitter feed or like us on Facebook to get updates, as we roll it out.
Is Rama available for Blackberry?
Unfortunately, no. As an important part of Rama is the ability to sell–and compensate the hardworking authors that put together–tours within the app, we are currently unable to adapt to devices that do not allow in-app purchasing, such as Blackberry. As this changes in the future, however, please check back here–we do want Rama to be available on as many mobile devices as possible.
If I purchase a tour on my iPhone, can I also download it to another Apple device?
Yes! Just make sure that you are logged in to the second device using the same iTunes account that you used to buy the tour. Once you launch and reload Rama, the tours you’ve purchased should be available to download instantly, at no further charge.
Why don’t you do a tour about…?
We’re always open to new tour suggestions! Write to us with your idea at info@crimsonbamboo.com and we’ll get back to you right away with our thoughts about it. If it’s an idea we can get excited about, we may assign somebody to write it… or ask you to do it!
I found something in the tour that I disagree with/think is incorrect. Who should I contact?
Send your musings, gushes, hate mail, nitpickings, cultural deconstructions, and anything else to info@crimsonbamboo.com and we’ll make sure that they get brought up with the tour author. We can’t guarantee they’ll respond but, unless they are among the J.D. Salinger or Thomas Pynchon variety of writers, they’ll probably appreciate the attention.
How can I write tours for Rama?
Like Rama itself, all good tours start with an idea you’re passionate about. If you think that you could put together an amazing tour, drop us a line at info@crimsonbamboo.com, telling us a bit about yourself, the tour you have in mind, and why you think that it will blow people’s socks off (metaphorically, they’ll probably want to use those socks while walking your tour). If we like the idea, and put the tour on the app, you’ll not only get to see your idea turn into reality, but earn royalties every time the tour is sold on Rama.
