About Us

Established in February 2010 when the founders finally discovered an unclaimed domain name that they could all agree they liked, Crimson Bamboo LLC is a zonkey-like hybrid of traditional technology and publishing business models.

It is our explicit aim to develop such obvious, intuitive products that our customers will slap themselves on the forehead and say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” (We don’t know, but we hope that the bruise on your forehead won’t prevent you from enjoying our products.)

Our Mission

We want to achieve a few things that are easy to express, but difficult to do. Here they are:

1. Provide sustainable, equitable platforms for creativity.

Never has there been so much creative talent in the world and so many people interested in consuming it, but so few paths to generating income that reflects the true value of one’s own work. We want to use new media to change that, so that authors and organizations can not only reach new audiences in new ways, but see their creations valued in dollars and cents, not just by-lines and comments.

2. Magnify the work of others.

Our content creators are at the core of everything that Crimson Bamboo does–our mission to be a magnifier for the things they have created. As a result, we strive that every line of code, every editorial comment, and every marketing campaign should greatly improve the reach, potency, and value of our authors’ content. We find fulfillment in having an outsize, positive effect on the world, and intend each of our actions to be examined under that lens.

3. Strive.

We seek to be honest with ourselves and enjoy what we do. Which is to say: we’re not always honest with ourselves, and we don’t really enjoy all of the work we do. But, in striving to perfection and other high ideals, we feel that the journey has at least as much inherent value as the destination. We don’t always achieve the goals we set out to reach, and we never end up where we thought we would be at the end of a project, but, irregardless, we’re always proud of what we’ve done–not because of how it turned out, but because of how we worked to create it.
